What is a Text Ad?

Text Ad – The standard type of AdWords ad, which typically includes a headline (25 characters in length), two lines of a descriptive text (35 characters per line), and a display and destination URL (the display URL is limited to 35 characters).

A text ad is a form of marketing communication that advertisers can use to promote their product or service on the Google Network.

Where text ads appear

These ads can appear on Google’s results pages and across the Google Network, which includes the Search Network, search partners, and the Display Network. Text ads might look different on the Display Network, or on mobile.

Keep in mind that they often appear with language that labels them as advertisements so that viewers understand that the links are paid promotions.

Text Ad Breakdown:

The Copy should reflect the copy on the landing page so that the Text Ad is relevant to what is being advertised

A Headline of the product or service that is being advertised (e.g. “Digital Marketing Company”). A Headline has a character limit of 30 characters

A second Headline providing more information on the product or service being offered (e.g. “Affordable Pricing For SMEs”). The second Headline has a character limit of 30 characters

Advertisements

The third Headline providing more information on the product or service being offered (e.g. “Small Enterprise Deal R2000 PM”). The third Headline has a character limit of 30 characters

A display URL that gives a user an indication of where the Text Ad is directed to for that product or service (e.g. “shadedsavanna.com/Digital/Marketing”). The two optional fields have a character limit of 15 characters each. The optional fields come after the “.com/”

The text underneath the Headline Copy is called Description 1 (e.g. “We Will Grow Your Business With A Dynamic Data-Driven Strategy. Contact Us” ). This text is there to give more information about the product or service and help the user to be motivated to click on the Text Ad. Description 1 has a character limit of 90 characters.

The text underneath Description 1 is called Description 2 (e.g. “Garner Success & Achieve Your Business Goals On Your Budget.” ). Description 2 has a character limit of 90 characters.

They will have a clear Call To Action (e.g. “Contact Us”)

And They are extended with the use of ad extensions.
